My work
Hardwood Furniture.
In my work I like to use native hardwoods because of the beauty and intrinsic value in the product. Our own Scottish timbers lend themselves to one off unique pieces rather than mass production. I work mainly in Elm and Oak, also Ash, Sycamore and Yew. I feel happy to promote a quality home grown product which helps to sustain our hardwood timber industry.
Fitted cabinets and shelving.
The work featured in this section has been commissioned to fit a specific space, either a recess, alcove or a piece that fits from floor to ceiling. This work is designed to sit in harmony with a client's existing architectural features and style. Usually made from plywood or MDF sheets, this work tends to be more functional and on a larger scale, where cost and a more efficient use of space is most important.
Gallery and Exhibition Work
I occasionally make things for exhibitions and galleries. This section shows off a little bit of that work.
My own work is heavily influenced in style by designers like Eileen Gray and Ettore Sottsass. I love abstract Art and sculpture and am inspired by a variety of imagery including industrial design, maps and landscapes.
